Ontario's trade minister is reacting to the tentative new NAFTA.
Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and Simcoe-Grey MPP, Jim Wilson says he's glad there is a new agreement, but it falls short in some ways.
Wilson says the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement throws dairy farmers under the bus.
He says with dairy concessions in the agreement there is no information about how farmers will be compensated.
Wilson is also concerned that there are no answers regarding US tariffs on Steel and Aluminium.
But the Minister does say this deal is good news for Honda in Alliston and that the auto sector can rest assured.
Jim Wilson doesn't believe US Congress will even consider approving this agreement until the new year, likely the middle
of the year.
He adds that means there is still time for Ontario to hold the federal government's “feet to the fire” to get the needed answers.
