If you're out boating this weekend, keep the cold water in mind.
The OPP are reminding boaters about the importance of safety equipment, especially with the unforgiving cold water and increasingly shorter days.
Constable Mo Tilson says with the water cooling down it is important to wear a life jacket when out on the water.
She says it will help your body stay afloat and protect you from hypothermia if you ever end up in the water.
Police also say you should make sure you're well-dressed while boating and consider taking a few extra warming items on board.
Remember — the colder the water is, the less rescue time there is because cold water robs your body's ability for self-rescue.
