Recognition to two women and an organization in Orillia for their volunteering efforts..
Cassidy Byers, Alice Stamper, and the Couchiching Conservancy received the 2018 Order of Orillia at a ceremony prior to Monday's (17th) City Council meeting.
The award is given to those who have given their time and effort towards making their community better.
17-year-old Byers started volunteering when she was a child and says she was initially confused when she learned she was being named to the Order.
But she says she found out what it was and it made her feel very happy and a sense of pride inside.
Stamper says she is proud to have received the Order of Orillia for her 40 years of service.
She says she has made a lot of friends through volunteering and it feels wonderful.
Byers says she would hope to one day continue to volunteer when she gets to Stamper's age.
Stamper says it is great to see young people like Byers volunteer and it won't take her long to catch up to her.
