A Mississauga man is facing charges of animal cruelty.
It began Thursday morning when South Simcoe Police received a call about a woman being bitten by a dog.
Officers went to a home on Canal Road around 8:30 and corralled two German Shepherds that had been running loose.
The woman was bitten in the knee and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
They also found a Rottweiler type breed that was chained to a tree that appeared malnourished and later discovered that it had a head injury.
A further inspection of the property revealed several dead or injured chickens and goats without access food or water.
Animal control and the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were brought in to care for the animals on the property.
A 55-year-old man turned himself in to police and will be in court in November.
