The Town of Midland won't reveal how much bitcoin it paid to anonymous hackers who have held the municipality's computer systems hostage since September 1st.
The hackers took the town's encryption keys hostage two weeks ago, cutting computer operations for 48 hours, and employees won't likely have full access to the system until Monday.
The ransomware attack is similar to one that struck Wasaga Beach for seven weeks in the spring.
Wasaga Beach paid hackers about $35,000 for the code to recover the information.
