The bats came through for the Barrie Baycats.
They scored 4 runs in the second inning in a 7-1 victory over the Kitchener Panthers Tuesday night in Game 5 of the Intercounty Baseball League Finals.
That inning saw Branfy Infante (3-for-4, 2 R, RBI) knock in Tim Smith with a one-out RBI single then Glenn Jackson (3-for-4, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI) delivered a 2-run double to score Jeff Cowan and Infante for a 3-0 lead.
Jackson would come around to score on an RBI double by Starlin Rodriguez to make it 4-0 for Barrie.
Kitchener would get one back in the top of the 7th when Zach Johnson crossed the plate on an RBI groundout by Mike Andrulis.
But the Baycats responded in the bottom half of the inning when Kyle DeGrace drove in Jordan Castaldo with a sacrifice fly and restore the 4-run lead.
Matt St. Kitts held the Panthers scoreless on 3 hits, walking 2, and striking out 3 over 6 innings for the win.
Emilis Guerrero pitched the final 3 innings for the save.
