Residents living near Lake St. John in Ramara Township are being advised about the potential presence of blue-green algae in the water.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit ask that people not swim or do any water sport activities on the lake at this time.
The water should also not be used for drinking or food preparation adding boiling and home treatment systems will not kill the toxins in the algae.
Staff with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) will be in the area this week to collect samples and analyze whether the blue-green algae is present.
