Provincial police will be paying close attention to drivers who are not giving their full attention to being behind the wheel.
There will be zero tolerance this Labour Day weekend for distracted driving.
Sgt Peter Leon says over 56-hundred collisions involving distracted drivers have been investigated on OPP-patrolled roads so far this year.
He says 31 people have lost their lives and just over 1,000 others have sustained serious injuries.
Leon says police will be looking for drivers who still refuse to put down the phone.
OPP say distracted driving is more than just being on the phone, it is any type of behaviour where the driver's attention is not focused 100 per cent on the road.
For the past five years, inattentive driving has been the deadliest behaviour on roads patrolled by provincial police.
Police say a lot of drivers unestimate the risks associated with distracted driving and they overestimate their skills behind the wheel
