The OPP are conducting an internal review their mental health initiatives.
This comes in the wake of the deaths of 3 OPP officers due to suicide in recent weeks.
Commissioner Vince Hawkes and Doctor Julie Devlin appeared at a news conference at the OPP General Headquarters in Orillia Thursday morning.
Hawkes says they have to constantly re-evaluate their program and have a process to do that.
He says this will allow them to be in a better position moving forward.
Hawkes says the deaths of the three officers hit close to home.
He says the deaths were within the organization and came in a span of three weeks.
Hawkes says he wants to incorporate pieces on how they can improve their mental health strategy.
He says they want to reduce the stigma so that an officer feels comfortable coming forward and reaching out for help.
Hawkes says they want to do the review within the OPP so that they are better able to establish their plan.
He says once that is worked out they will seek input from other police organizations in this initiative.
