Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MP Alex Nuttall will not be setting sail on Maxime Bernier's ship.
Nuttall, a close ally of the Quebec MP, played a key role in Bernier's unsuccessful Conservative leadership campaign last year in which he lost by a narrow margin to Andrew Scheer.
Bernier quit the Conservative party last week and said he was going to form a new party.
Nuttall says he is committed to his constituents as a Conservative MP.
He won by just 86 votes in the 2015 election and says without having the Conservative brand, he would not have been elected.
