A close call for tenants of a unit on Innisfil Street in Barrie after an overnight basement fire.
The fire department says there were no smoke alarms, but flames melted a plastic water line in the exposed ceiling and it acted as a sprinkler to put out the flames.
Damage is pegged at $50,000.
Nobody was hurt.
As a result of the fire, 10 tenants in six units have been displaced.
Investigators say the fire was not suspicious but it was preventable.
