A former Orillia resident is up for an Emmy Award.
Todd Beckett is nominated in the Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama, and Animation category for his work on HBO series Barry, and Silicon Valley.
Beckett lived in Orillia in the early 1980s and attended Orillia and District Collegiate and Vocational Institute (ODCVI).
His father Dave Beckett is a local artist and lives in Severn.
Dave Beckett says his son is very humble and doesn't make too much of a big deal.
He says they both laugh about the fact that Todd would often be in meetings with Hollywood executives or on set with a big celebrity.
Beckett says Todd was an aspiring musician and attended a private music school in Toronto.
He says it was there that he was recruited by a film production company called Colour by Deluxe where he did sound work for them.
Beckett says things have really blossomed for Todd since he moved to Los Angeles.
He says Todd was a guy that he set his mind on to something he would do it.
The Primetime Emmy Awards goes Monday September 17th.
