From Georgian Bay to Kempenfelt Bay, by bus.
Simcoe County's new LINX transit system was launched this morning(TUE), with Route 1 taking passengers from Penetanguishene/Midland to Barrie.
The cash fare ($2, $4, $6) is based on distance travelled, however, the rides are free until September 5th.
Four other routes are in the works (Barrie-Orillia, Midland-Orillia, Alliston-Bradford, Barrie-Collingwood), plus the County will assume operations of existing inter-municipal routes.
The plan is to have all routes operational within five years.
County Council approved the $5 million plan last year to launch a regional transit service.
