Organizers of the Orillia Terry Fox Run are preparing for the 30th year of the event.
The 2018 edition will go Sunday September 16th at Couchiching Beach Park.
Registration begins at 11:30 AM with a unified run starting at 1 PM.
Organizer Alison Stoneman says they are promoting team awareness so people can come in any size team whether it's one or 200.
She says committee members will be distributing pledge forms and posters in the upcoming weeks.
Last Friday was the 38th anniversary of Terry's appearance at the Orillia Rotary Aqua Theatre (July 27, 1980).
Stoneman says she has heard stories from people who saw or met Terry during his stop on the Marathon of Hope.
She says it is really great to hear people tell these stories.
Stoneman says Orillia businesswoman and cancer patient Gini Stringer is an example of the money raised through the Terry Fox Run.
She says Stringer is undergoing a clinical trial and it is helping her live a great life.
Last year's Orillia Terry Fox Run saw 536 people raise over $36,000, well over the goal of one dollar for every Orillia resident.
