The driver and the owner of a water truck are facing charges after being involved in what Barrie Police described as cascading collisions.
The truck was going south on Fairview Road Wednesday afternoon around 3 when the driver lost control and the vehicle began to roll backwards towards Essa Road.
Three other vehicles collided with the truck along with the way which then crashed into a fourth vehicle before coming to a stop.
The 19-year-old male driver from Utopia is charged with unsafe operation of a commercial vehicle, operating a commercial vehicle with a major defect, and failing to complete an accurate daily inspection report.
The 44-year-old male owner — also from Utopia — is charged with not having a proper permit, allowing the unsafe operation of a commercial vehicle, failing to ensure performance standards are met, and no valid CVOR certificate.
Despite the number of vehicles damaged, no one was seriously hurt.
