A Toronto teacher is facing charges in connection to the drowning death of a student while on a field trip.
The body of 15-year-old Jeremiah Perry was found in a river at Algonquin Park in July of 2017.
He was among a number of students on a multi-night canoe trip.
Two teachers were assigned to that field trip.
It was revealed that Jeremiah and 32 other students failed to pass a swim test for the trip.
A criminal investigation by OPP ensued resulting in the arrest of the teacher — a 54-year-old man from Caledon — on charges of criminal negligence causing death.
He will be in a Toronto court September 11th.
