While this is a season of joy for many people, for some its a time of despair and upset.
However there is a place they can turn to to get some help and a compassionate hearing.
Telecare Orillia is a phone help line that operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Executive Director Catharine Blakely says Telecare provides a distress phone line service to the public and befriends anyone in distress.
She says it is a phone line for anyone feeling depressed, lonely, suicidal, anxious or needing any type of emotional support.
She says Christmas is one of their busiest times of the year when people feeling depressed or lonely just need a person to talk to.
Blakely says life does not take a holiday and issues that may be troubling someone before Christmas wont go away for one day of the year.
She says the volunteers who staff the help lines have a lot of training so they can listen to a persons problems.
If any one is feeling low and needs someone to talk to, the number to call is 705 325-9534.
