Simcoe County’s credit rating is good according to one leading financial market company.
The county has a double-A credit rating.
Standard & Poor is citing Simcoe County’s positive economic prospects of public sector employment in combination with close location to dirverse GTA markets as the key to keeping local debt levels low levels across the county.
S&P added that despite slow economic recovey in 2011, tourism remained one of Simcoe County’s main economic pillars.
Simcoe County Warden Cal Patterson says he’s pleased with the feedback from S&P.
Patterson adds that he is confident the recently adopted 10-year economic development strategy as part of the 2012 budget will strengthen the county’s economic future and earn it another solid credit rating in the new year.
