There will be a lot of people in the woods and fields tomorrow taking part in the annual Christmas Bird Count
Ray Kiff is the president of the Orillia Naturalists Club and says they will be out from dawn to dusk trying to count as many birds as possible in and around the Orillia area.
He says after they they put together all the numbers and those numbers are then sent off to Bird Studies Canada to be put into a large data base.
These bird observations, collected during one-day field counts within defined circular areas, have been amassed into a huge database that reflects the distribution and numbers of winter birds over time.
Kiff says the Orillia Club has beenĀ been counting birdsĀ around Orillia since 1981.
The Christmas Bird Count, is conducted in over 2,000 localities across Canada, the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean.
