Proposed daily rental fee increases for using Tudhope Park has raised a few red flags with the Mariposa Folk Festival.
In a letter to Orillia Council, Folk Festival Foudation President Chris Lusty questions the rational behind a move by the Parks and Recreation department that would see rental costs for Tudhope Park be roughly quadrupled from about $400 a day to $1500 a day.
The folk Festival President is asking for a meeting with Council to talk about the important contribution the Festival makes to Orillia on a whole.
Lusty, in his letter points out that what has been lacking over the years has been real engagement
with the City of Orillia.
He says with the exception of the Culture and Heritage and the EDC they have had little support from the City.
Lusty says at this meeting they will present the case for reducing or eliminating this proposed increase.
He goes on to say they also hope that to explore opportunities for partnership at this meeting.
