A group of old railway passenger cars on Orillias water front could be moving east.
Coun. Pete Bowen told Monday’s council committee meeting Orillia’s Ossawippi rail cars could be moving to Kawartha Lakes.
The cars became the citys responsiblity after the Ossawippi Express restaurant which was housed in antique train cars on leased city land went out of business in April 2010.
The city’s municipal heritage committee laid out two options for council committee to consider.
One option could see the London and Port Stanley No. 4 railcar go to Ontario Electric Railway Historical Association in Milton while the remaining cars go to Heritage Victoria,in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
The MHC’s proposal would have seen Orillia Museum of History acquire “artifacts deemed of value to the citizens of Orillia.
Council committee decided to give everything to Kawartha Lakes if an arrangement can be worked out.
