The great flouride in drinking water debate will be coming to Orillia in the not to distant future.
Councillor Linda Muray, who also is a board of health member says council will be looking at the possibility in the next little while.
Thats because Orillia has one of the highest rates of dental decay in all of Simcoe Muskoka according to Medical Officer of Health Dr. Charles Gardner.
He says when compared to communities that have flouride in their water system, Orillia has a much higher rate of dental isues than those communities.
Bonnie Jefferies is the Manager of Oral CAre for the Simcoe Muskoka District Health unit and says now they are doing pre school flouride varnish programs in some day care centres where there are low income children to try and prevent tooth decay from even begining.
