Great weather and a record number of participants yesterday at the Terry Fox Run, here in Orillia.
615 participants and 123 volunteers were at Couchiching Beach Park for the annual event and they raised approximately 35-thousand dollars to fuel more advances in cancer research. That brings the total raised over the years in Orillia, to over 445-thousand dollars. There’s more to add to the totals, as the figures do not include monies raised through events like the Great Canadian Hair Do at Lakehead University and Audies Hair Design and the Orillia Cheeseburger Challange.
Organizer Alison Stoneman says that they appreciate the tremendous support they receive from the community partners and the participants and she adds they are indeed working to outrun cancer.
Runs were also held in Sugarbush, Lagoon City/Brechin, Beaverton, Barrie and Midland.
