Provincial Election candidates in Simcoe North will converge on St Paul’s United Church to inform the voters how their parties intend to deal with the issue of poverty.
Three of the four candidates have confirmed their attendance.
Reverend Monica Moore says the candidates will be asked what their positions are on issues of affordable housing, social assistance, and anything pertaining to addressing the broader issue of poverty.
Moore says poverty continues to be a problem here in Orillia with many young people struggling to find affordable housing and well paying jobs.
She adds most people do not understand the root causes of poverty and simply dismiss it as being the fault of the individual.
The all-candidates meeting will be held at 7 o’clock Monday evening (Sept 12) at St Paul’s United Church.
