Lakehead launches the new academic year with a full slate of exciting events that are all part of Fall Orientation 2011.
Over 1,000 students are enrolled at Lakeheads Orillia campus this fall and many are first-year students who will take part in Orientation activities from September 9 to 11.
Orientation focuses on introducing students to the basics of life at Lakehead and in their new community through tours of classrooms and labs, workshops, a mock lecture, and many opportunities to connect with other students and faculty members.
Many of the Orientation activities will be led by student ambassadors, who are upper- year students who have been trained in how to guide new students.
On Saturday, September 10, students will have further opportunities to get to know the community with a visit to downtown Orillia for the Loonie Lunch event. Many downtown businesses will be offering students a menu item for a dollar. In the evening, students will cruise Lake Couchiching aboard the Island Princess.
Orientation activities will conclude on Sunday with a trip to see a Blue Jays baseball game in Toronto.
