161 years and going strong.
That is how long the Orillia Fall Fair has been around, and organizers this year say it is one of the largest fall fairs in Ontario.
Rob McCron is the Director of the Fall Fair and says this is a great opportunity for urban residents to find out more about the rural lifestyle and where our food comes from.
He says every year he sees parents explaining to their children that their milk comes from a cow, not a cardboard carton.
McCron says this years edition of the Fair will have such favourite attractions like the demolition derby, tractor pulls and heavy horse shows.
HeĀ says in order to attract youngsters participants and visitors to the fair they are trying a few new things this year like a photo contest and singing completion for children and a homemade wine making competition for the adults.
McCron says the midway also is a big attraction as is the heavy horse show which is a competition many people come out to enjoy.
The 161st edition of the Orillia Fair begins today at noon and continues until Sunday at the ODAS part just west of Orillia.
