The strike by support staff at Ontario’s colleges has forced the delay of the grand opening and open house at Collingwood’s brand-new Georgian College campus.
School officials say they’re keeping the interests of the staff and community in mind calling off the opening.
Bob Kennedy, Vice President, Marketing and Student Services says the official opening and the community open house will take place after the strike is settled between the support staff and the schools.
At this point, no new contract talks are scheduled. The workers walked off the job September 1st, and have been on picket lines at each college campus since then.
The schools say they will remain open during the strike.
