Councillor Pete Bowen is asking city staff to prepare a report outlining best hiring practices by way of a comparative study on similar municipalities.
Councillor Bowen is asking for the report in the wake the recent controversy surrounding the search for a new city manager.
Bowen says that could have been avoided if the City had a formal hiring policy in place.
He feels if such guidelines are written in stone it will be to the benefit of the current and future councils.
