Simcoe North MP Bruce Stanton feels that Canada and Simcoe North are weathering the current turmoil in the stock markets and the global economic turmoil. Stanton says Canada is not immune to these kinds of shocks in the global economy and it’s all the more reason to “stay the course” on keeping our own house in order and keeping our expenses down.
Stanton says these types of situation make all the more important to achieve a balanced budget by 2014, which is what the Conservatives promised during the federal election.
Stanton says the key issue in Simcoe North remains jobs creation and attracting businesses to the area. And he says we must continue to support local businesses so that they can continue to grow and build their profits back up. That will keep them competitive for years to come and ultimately create more jobs. He says the good news is that some area business have been growing and that can only be good for the area.
MPs are on their summer break and many people might think it’s a vacation. Stanton says that’s not the case. The 12-week break finds MPs in their ridings and Stanton says it’s far from a holiday. He’s says they enjoy this time and it gives them meaningful, extended time to meet with businesses and constituents in the riding.
