Those driving along Highway 11 may have noticed a group of people walking along the side of the road.
They are members of the United Society based in Toronto – and they are walking 200 kilometres to the Gravenhurst area raising money for under-privileged children.
The walk – called “The Pilgrimage of Love” – was started by United Society member Romeo Meleca in 1981.
Meleca continues to participate in the walk – despite being 80 years of age.
The walk has been highly successful in the past with tens of thousands of dollars being raised.
All funds raised will be used to sponsor children to the Teopoli Summer Experience – which is essentially a youth retreat.
