A man who looked at child porn while working at OPP General Headquarters pleaded guilty to charges Tuesday, according to the Packet & Times.
53-year-old Richard Cook admitted to accessing and possessing child pornography using a government computer, when he was employed by Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, working out of the OPP General Headquarters in Orillia. Charges were laid in May of last year.
The Penetanguishene man has been employed with Community Safety and Correctional Services for more than 15 years in fleet and supply services.
When monitoring specific user sites, the government information centre discovered pornography sites showing children ages 8 to 12 had been visited by Cook. Other discs found to have been owned by Cook showed 62 computer graphic images of prepubescent males and females from age two to 13.
Cook is not being held in custody. In May 2010, he was released on $10,000 bail and is subject to a long list of conditions. Among them, he is to not possess or use a computer for any purpose; not access the Internet; not be in the presence of anyone younger than 16.
He will be sentenced in an Orillia court October 11th.
