Mayor Angelo Orsi is keeping quiet regarding the city manager hiring issue, after a group of councillors recently announced they would change their positions and not support the hiring of a candidate, who had already been offered the job.
According to the Packet and Times, Mayor Angelo Orsi cast the tie-breaking vote to conditionally offer Candidate C, who has beenĀ identified as Orsi campaign advisor Glenn Fernandes, the city’s top administrative job.
On Tuesday, the four councillors who voted with the mayor Michael Fogarty, Andrew Hill, Patrick Kehoe and Linda Murray said they would not be in favour of offering the job to Candidate C, as the controversy surrounding the job offer and hiring process would make it difficult for him to do the job effectively.
When asked if he shared those councillors’ concerns, Orsi said, “This matter will be discussed at the next closed council meeting where we will all be able to consider one another’s thoughts and opinions.”
