A Beaverton theft ring has been broken up after the arrest of 10 local residents.
A six-week investigationby Durham Regional Police into thefts from rural residential properties in Beaverton has resulted in multiple arrests and the recovery of thousands of dollars of stolen equipment.
The investigation began in the spring after several homeowners in the Beaverton area reported thefts from their property. Other thefts were later reported as unknown persons were breaking into sheds, houses and garages, stealing landscaping equipment like chainsaws, lawn trimmers and lawnmowers. Several dirt bikes, ATVs, and a generator were also stolen.
As a result of this investigation, 10 persons have been arrested, over 70 charges have been laid and 18 theft incidents have been cleared to date.
Numerous pieces of brand name power and landscaping equipment, valued at over $7000, have been recovered and returned to the lawful owners.
