Its not only humans who are suffering because of the heat…..animals as well can suffer and even get heat stroke.
Tom Malloy is with the Orillia SPCA and says keep your cats and dogs indoors in a cool place today and make sure they have plenty of water.
He says this is not the time to take your dog for a walk, and certainly not to take the animal anywhere in the car.
Malloy says its isĀ just to hot for that.
He says its essential that you keep the dog indoors and calm because excitement can also raise the animals body temperature.
Malloy says if you don’t have air conditioning, then close the window shades to try and keep your home as cool as possible and have a fan blow directly on the animal to provide it with cool air.
