The investigation into a police pursuit and subsequent deaths of two people in Orillia in May continues.
The Special Investigations Unit took over the probe surrounding the death of a man and woman in a single-vehicle collision in Orillia early in the morning on May 3rd.
28-year-old Jacob Sabourin and 19-year-old Rachel Merredew, both of Kingston, died when the vehicle they were in crashed into a light standard on Memorial Ave.
The two were being pursued by the OPP before the crash occurred.
SIU spokesperson Frank Phillips tells Sunshine News they are still awaiting the return of some forensic evidence and the accident reconstruction report before the investigation can be completed.
During the course of the investigation, four civilian witnesses were interviewed and six OPP members were designated as witness officers.
Phillips could not say when he expected the final report would be completed.
