With a fresh string of political attack ads coming from the Liberal Party, the MPP for Simcoe North says he wants no part of that scene.
Garfield Dunlop says attack ads need to stop.
The Liberal ad campaign follows a similar campaign by the Progressive Conservatives in which Premier McGuinty was referred to as “The Taxman.”
Dunlop feels we are becoming “too Americanized” in our politics – adding candidates should campaign on their own merits and not engage in mudslinging.
He adds the Liberal attack ads are a sign of desperation.
Dunlop also commented on the departure of some key Liberal MPP’s – namely Sandra Pupatello, and David Caplan.
He says it will be difficult for the Liberals to recover in those ridings as there is not enough time to find a candidate with enough credibility to fill the gap.
Dunlop was also asked about recent public sector layoffs by the Liberal government.
He says the Liberals have made a mess of the economy and that the entire bureaucracy will eventually need to be looked at.
