Its time to think about giving the gift of life.
As people prepare to head off to cottages for summer vacation, many hospital patients will be fighting to survive.
Theyll urgently need blood.
Canadian Blood Services are encouraging local residents to make, and honour, their appointment to donate blood during the summer.
During the summer months, donors change their routines, take vacations and are involved with outdoor activities, so donating blood is not always top of mind for them.
However, the need for blood does not take a summer vacation.
The demand for blood usually increases due in part to an increase in trauma cases such as car and boating accidents.
