Its not good news for many recreational boating operators in this region.
Many of them are finding that a lot of marina operators are getting out of the gas pumping business.
Al Donaldson is the Executive Director of Boating Ontario,an association of marina operators and he says for the operators there really is not a lot of money to be made pumping gas.
He says that along with the cost of keeping up with safety and environmental standards has resulted in a lot of operators in cottage country shutting down their pumps.
Donaldson says that means many boaters now have to lug their fuel to their boats by jerry can.
He says whats concerning about that is there is a greater risk of a fuel spill when the boater is using a jerry can compared to a trained marina operator.
Donaldson says also insurance rates have increased dramatically for marina.s that pump gas by the water and that another reason many operators are closing their pumps.
