Lakehead University and Georgian College partnering in a special workshop dealing with innovation and business.
Lakehead spokesperson Kathy Hunt says they are co-hosting Innovation for a Greater Central Ontario, an event in Orillia this week that will bring together business leaders and academic researchers to facilitate the development of beneficial partnerships.
The event will give participants the opportunity to hear innovation success stories and learn about how their businesses can work in cooperation with postsecondary institutions and government funding agencies.
Hunt says Research and development is an important component of any business in todays world and the local college and university are each ready, willing, and able to partner with businesses to help them develop innovative products and services that will support growth.
Hunt says one area that both institutions are doing a lot of work on deals with the environment and this could be one area that local businesses could partner with them in developing new methods of protecting and cleaning up the environment.
