Members of the Orillia Terry Fox Run Organizing Committee are expressing their profound sadness following word that Betty Fox mother of Terry Fox passed away yesterday morning.
Organizer Alison Stoneman said in a statement We take heart knowing that she is now re-united with Terry.”
Terry Fox brought his Marathon of Hope to Orillia, and even spoke here, on July 27, 1980. Terry died almost a year later, in June 1981.
Fundraising efforts will continue on though — the 2011 Orillia Terry Fox Run will be held on Sunday, September 18 beginning on Terry Fox Circle in Couching Beach Park.
There’s no entry fee, no minimum pledge and its non-competitive.
