Orillia City Council is sticking with it’s decision to place hydro lines along Millennium Trail.
This follows a tense debate between those who prefer the trail option – and those who want to see the line placed along Cowan Street.
Councillor Tony Madden brought the issue before council once again after the option to place the line on Cowan was voted down by Council during their last meeting.
Madden is concerned that the trail will be ruined by Orillia Power when it’s crews move in and begin trimming trees to accommodate the installation of the hydro line.
Mayor Angelo Orsi says Orillia Power has assured him that there will be no clear cutting and he is confident Orillia Power will manage the line in a responsible manner.
In the end – Council voted 5-4 in favour of staying with the plan to place the line along the trail.
