There wont be many empty classrooms at Georgian college here in Orillia, Barrie and Owen Sound this summer.
The college will be hosting more than 3 thousand students for the summer semester.
This represents an increase of 33 per cent in domestic student enrolment and 46 per cent in international enrolment over this time last year. College spokesperson Bob Kennedy says there are a number of reasons for this increase, as students are looking to fast-track, earn additional credits or are simply wanting to start their studies as soon as possible.
Kennedy adds that fuller use of the colleges facilities in the summer is an efficient use of resources, helping to improve access to post-secondary studies in the community.
The enrolment increases are being seen across all Georgian campuses in study areas such as Business, Community Studies, Marine Training and Health and Wellness.
The Police Foundations program in Orillia has seen a 142 per cent increase in summer enrolment from last year., 92 students compared to 38 in 2010.
