Moving your child from his or her booster seat too soon can put them at a huge safety risk.
With that message in mind, Child Passenger safety is taking centre stage at the Orillia Square Mall today.
Public Health Nurse Carolyn Jones says they will be available between 11 and 3pm today with tips and support to make every ride a safe ride.
Jones says often parents are rushing their children from a car or booster seats before it’s safe to do so.
She says children shouldn’t be taken out of a car or booster seat until they are 4’9 and at least 8 years old.
For new parents, a rear facing car seat is required, by law, for infants until they are at least one and walking.
Using the proper harness system for your child reduces the rate of injury to children by 60 per cent.
Stop by the Orillia Square Mall today between 11am-3pm for demo’s and safety tips, including a free car seat clinic and help with installation.
