The fifth annual Carden Nature Festival is underway this weekend just east of Orillia at the Carden Recreation Centre on Lake Dalrymple Road.
Gayle Carlyle is with the Couchiching Conservancy which manages the environmentally sensitive lands in Carden and says there are dozens of different activities taking place this weekend.
She says there will be many experts on hand to provide detailed information surrounding the different types of plants that inhabit the alvar and also bird experts will be there as well to talk about the numerous species that call theĀ Carden area home.
Carlyle says many of the birding activities occurred early in the morning some starting as early as 6 a.m.
She also says there will be expeditions on the water as well exploring the different types of aquatic live that inhabits the region as well.
Carlyle says this year there is even a special children’s nature program.
The Carden Nature festival runs all weekend long.
