All this rain we have received and are about to get over the next day or so has prompted two local conservation authorities to issue high water advisories.
Both the Lake Simcoe Regional Conservation authority and theĀ Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority say with the potential for another 30 mm of rain over the next 24 hours, flows in rivers and streams will increase dramatically.
The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that The possibility for localized flooding in various low lying areas of the watershed
exists due to this expected rainfall.
The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority advise flows on area watercourses are expected to rise but
significant flooding is not expected. Public safety near the watercourses is emphasized.
The public and especially children are advised to stay away from all area water bodies
as fast flowing water and slippery banks will result in dangerous conditions.
