Some areas are riding high while others are down considerably on the latest building stats released by the Chief Building Official.
Industrial and institutional numbers are up dramatically with industrial being up nearly 400 thousand dollars from last year’s year to date total.
Institutional building permits are sitting at over 45 million for 2011 so far – thats compared to five thousand last year.
The stats swing in the other direction with regard to residential and commercial development.
Residential permits are sitting at a total of over 4 million dollars – down from 15 million last year.
Commercial development has basically been cut in half with over 5 million dollars in permits issued in 2011 so far – compared with over 11 million at this time last year.
Public utilities has also taken a dive in 2011 with 101 thousand dollars in permits issued compared to over 22 million in 2010.
The total value of construction activity so far this year is more than 55.8 million dollars.
That compares to a total value of permits issued last year for this time of just over 49 million dollars.
