The Orillia Business Woman of the Year was announced at a gala dinner last night at Hawk Ridge Golf & Country Club.
The annual award is handed out by the Orillia Business Womens Association and this year’s winner of the the Nelle Carter Woman of the Year is Joanne Davison.
Since 1983, Joanne Davison has been more than a great hairdresser. She followed her passion for helping others and took traditional hair styling skills and began offering services to those suffering hair loss. Davison opened the Hair Prosthesis Centre and specialized in medical hair loss for men, women and children During a visit to her centre, clients, particularly women going through skin changes and hair loss, due to chemotherapy, are offered a private, confidential environment to transform themselves.
The Lisa Brooking Young Woman of the Year Award went to Molly McFarlane of OD. McFarlane was nominated by the school’s staff for the Excellence in Education Award due to for her academic success and extensive school and community involvement. Molly also travelled to Honduras on a 10 day humanitarian excursion, to build two homes for families in need.
