As we head into tourism season there is little concern at the municipal level about any big impact rising gas prices might have.
With Orillia being a prime spot for tourists it has certainly crossed the minds of those heavily invested in the local tourism scene that rising gas prices may prompt some people to cancel the summer road trip – or simply spend less money at their destination.
Mayor Angelo Orsi is showing little concern for the situation.
Orsi believes travellers will still come to Orillia and that the locals will continue to enjoy the season just as they always have.
He adds it’s too early to tell if any special approach will need to be taken as far as tourism marketing goes.
