Expect big changes to Ontario’s green energy act if the Conservatives win this falls Provincial election.
Simcoe North MPP Garfield Dunlop says a Tory government would kill Ontario’s deal with Samsung to make components for green energy projects.
He also says they would also end the province’s feed-in tariff program for energy generated from renewable sources.
Dunlop also would change the act so municipalities would have a say as to where green energy projects could be located.
Under the Green Energy Act, the Province can override any local planning concerns about the location of any of these projects.
Dunlop says cancelling the Samsung deal and getting rid of the feed in tariff program would result ultimately in lower hydro rates for Ontario consumers.
