Work on the new residence building at the Orillia Campus of Lakehead university is moving along with completion of the 271-bed residence scheduled for this fall.
University spokesperson Kathy Hunt says The residence features a unique modern design where each student will have their own single room while sharing a bathroom with only one other person.
Each floor will house 40 single rooms, a laundry facility, kitchenette, and quiet room.
Hunt says The new Orillia Residence is a smoke-free dormitory-style residence hall and is being built to the highest of environmental standards.
She says both parents and first year students are really interested in the new residence and she says every first year student is guaranteed a room in residence.
Hunt says also being constructed beside the residents is the new Cafeteria/bookstore facility.
